Fc Barcelona vs Liverpool Predictions

Fc Barcelona vs Liverpool PredictionsFive-time winners Barcelona may have smashed a Champions League (CL) record after notching up a 31-game unbeaten home streak (W28, D3),

but they now take on a team they have never beaten at the Camp Nou (D2, L2) as Liverpool travel to Catalonia hunting a sixth European Cup.

However the hosts are justified favourites having won their last five competitive home games – four of them ‘to nil’ – whilst scoring an impressive eight goals across their last two CL fixtures held here. Furthermore, Barca have been winning at half-time in all five of their CL home games this season, winning 2-0 at the break in the last two.

The Spanish giants can get a further morale boost considering they have lost just one of their previous 15 European games against English opposition (W11, D3, L1). However Liverpool can take solace from the fact they are the only English side to have ever beaten Barcelona at home (twice) in European competition (Barca vs English teams: W21, D11, L2).

In-form Liverpool are on a ten-match winning run (in all competitions), although they registered a clean sheet in just four of those games. In fact both teams have scored in their last three CL away matches (W2, L1), with Liverpool grabbing a first-half goal in each fixture.
Players to watch: Lionel Messi got a brace in Barcelona’s last two CL home games – he netted the opener in four of the five CL fixtures he’s scored in this term.

Mo Salah’s double at the weekend took his tally to 69 goals in 100 appearances – a club record for a Liverpool player after 100 games.

Stat attack: Barca have scored 3+ goals in seven of their last ten CL home fixtures.

Four of Liverpool’s last five competitive away victories involved both teams scoring.

Six of the eight competitive H2Hs have featured under 2.5 goals.

MATCH ANALYSIS

After fighting at the very top for most of the season, four defeats in the last six Premier League (PL) rounds means Tottenham’s place in the top four is now under threat in the final stages of the campaign.

Indeed, just three PL teams have taken fewer points from their last five matches than ‘Spurs’ (W1, D1, L3). Offering some comfort, is the fact they won their first ever top-flight home match at their new stadium last week, taking their unbeaten home run in the league to five (W4, D1).

Additionally, Tottenham have failed to score in just two PL home games this season (of 15), and have netted three goals or more on five occasions. Curiously, a full third of those home matches featured the exact same 3-1 result (W4, L1).

]
Huddersfield, meanwhile, look the ideal opponent for any team needing to break a negative pattern. The visitors have lost ten of their last 11 league matches, including their last five in a row.

Furthermore they’ve failed to score in seven of their last eight PL road trips, and an average of 0.58 goals scored per PL fixture (home/away) is the division’s worst. On the road, they’ve also conceded an average of 2.8 goals across their last five outings.

Players to watch: Heung-Min Son (TOT) has three goals in his last four matches for club and country, and scored a double in this fixture last season. Action-man Christopher Schindler, meanwhile, has one goal, six yellow cards and one red for Huddersfield this season.

Stat attack: Tottenham are one of three teams yet to feature in a goalless match this PL season.

Just over half of Tottenham’s PL victories this campaign (11 of 21) have come by a margin of two or more goals.

Since Huddersfield’s promotion in 2017, they’ve lost all three H2Hs, conceding eight goals to no reply.

MATCH ANALYSIS;

Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat at Wolves on Apr 2 saw them lose ground on the Premier League (PL) top four. It marked what was (as of Apr 9) their third game in succession to yield that scoreline and see one team score consecutive match goals.

United’s PL home form alone offers no respite in that regard either, with just one of their last nine league matches here seeing them keep a clean sheet. In each of the last three home PL games where the ‘Red Devils’ have conceded, their opponent on the day has scored in the 75th minute or later.

The home fans in attendance will be pleased to note that West Ham’s last four matches (W1, L3) have seen them concede 2+ goals, with each seeing them trail by a two-goal margin at one point, and all the defeats ending 2-0. All four games also saw West Ham lose the first half.

Worse yet, after a run of three successive PL away wins in December, West Ham have now taken just a single point from the last 21 available on the road (D1, L6). All of the six defeats in that sequence have yielded a blank for West Ham.

Players to watch: Respectively, each of Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku’s last three home league goals for United have arrived in the first and second half.

With a brace at Southampton (Dec 27), Felipe Anderson remains the last West Ham man to score in an away league match from open play.

Stat attack: Manchester United last suffered a league double of defeats against West Ham back in 2006/07.
West Ham’s last two away PL games have seen them lose the first half 1-0.

Overall, five of West Ham’s last seven matches have seen them concede first.

Arsenal vs Napoli squad analysis & prediction

Arsenal vs Napoli squad analysis & prediction

MATCH ANALYSIS

Arsenal are unbeaten in eight Europa League (EL) matches at the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners’ sole home defeat in their entire history of post-2009 EL participation being an inconsequential 2-1 reverse to Östersunds FK back in February 2018.

The ‘Gunners’ have emerged victorious with a clean sheet in their last three EL outings here, winning the first half 2-0 and the second 1-0 twice in a row.

Even if Arsenal are to concede first against Napoli, a record of  in EL home matches where they have conceded first bodes well, with both wins yielding a 3-1 scoreline.

Napoli arrive in London with a chequered away record in this season’s EL, winning once and losing once – both times by a 3-1 scoreline.

Given that, there is potential relevance in the fact that the visitors’ last four away trips (in all competitions) have produced over 1.5 goals and seen the first two match goals shared equally.

There should be no lack of action at the start though, with three of Napoli’s four EL games this year seeing them score inside the first 15 minutes of play. Additionally, three of their last four EL away goals (in 2019 alone) have arrived inside the first half-hour.

Players to watch: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the first and last Arsenal scorer in their most recent EL game here.

Both legs of the previous round saw Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik score the opening goal for his team inside the first 15 minutes.

Stat attack: Each of Arsenal’s last four competitive home games have seen them win both halves.

Across all competitions and venues, Arsenal have scored first in seven of their last nine matches.

Each of Napoli’s last six games have seen both teams score.

The only remaining Champions League (CL) side to have entered the tournament through the qualifiers this season, Ajax take on another European behemoth in the CL quarter-finals, as Juventus make their way to the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Last round, Ajax overturned a 1-2 defeat at home against Real Madrid with an emphatic 4-1 win in Spain. The team they started that match with had an average age of just 24.54 years – almost five years younger than the average age of those who started for Juventus in the Italian club’s last CL match (29.0 years).

With four of Ajax’s last five CL matches now seeing both teams score, youthful exuberance could be Ajax’s secret weapon.

However, it could also be their downfall, as Juventus themselves made a famous comeback of their own in the previous round, coming from 2-0 behind after the first-leg to win 3-2 on aggregate.
Now preparing for their third CL quarter-final appearance in a row, Juventus have recorded 34 wins in 42 competitive matches so far this season (W34, D3, L5), with all five of Juventus’ CL wins this season being accompanied by a clean sheet.

Players to watch: David Neres has six goals in his last seven competitive matches for Ajax. In similarly good form, starlet Moise Kean (JUV) has seven in his last eight matches for club and country.

Stat attack: Ajax have scored 3.5 goals on average across their last ten competitive matches.

Seven of those ten matches have also featured at least four goals.
Juventus have been behind at half-time in just one of eight CL matches this season.

The Italian champions have won the first half of the last four H2H CL matches to-nil.

Chelsea vs West Ham Prediction

Chelsea vs West Ham Prediction

match analysis.

It’s London derby time again as Monday night pits Champions League seeking Chelsea against a West Ham  side sitting mid-table with little to play for.

Chelsea vs West Ham Prediction

Chelsea’s win last time out marked a sixth consecutive Premier League  home game unbeaten, with three of those victories arriving by at least a two-goal margin and a clean sheet. Interestingly however, they’ve only managed a clean sheet in three of the last ten competitive.

Just three of Chelsea’s last ten PL home matches have featured three goals or more, something that can be said of 43.75% of their top-flight home matches this term – one of the division’s lowest percentages.

Those hoping for a goal fest will find no fuel in the recent performances of West Ham, who have seen four of their last five PL matches produce under 2.5 goals.

Furthermore, the ‘Hammers’ themselves have managed to score just once across their last six PL road trips!

West Ham have performed reasonably well against the current top six this season, but have conceded in seven of nine such matches, averaging 1.67 goals conceded per fixture.

At Stamford Bridge, they’ve conceded at least one goal in 16 of their last 17 PL visits.

Players to watch: With five goals across his last six matches for club and country, Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard could shine here. Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovi?  has recently returned from injury and scored a double for Austria during the international break.

Stat attack: Chelsea have won 64.07% of the PL matches that they entered as matchday favourites this season – the lowest share of the top-six teams.

The last nine competitive H2Hs have all been draws or victories by a one-goal margin.
